If You Snooze, You Lose: Early morning exercise can improve your entire day

The first 7 months of the year are already gone and with the winter short days it is a bit of battle to wake up every morning.

Do you find it hard to wake up early in the morning? Can’t make it out of bed without putting up a fight? I can assure you, you are not alone. Being a morning person doesn’t come naturally. It’s a tough but rewarding challenge, and even those people you envy, who jump out of bed for a run before arriving in the office with a huge smile on their face, had to work hard for it. The good news is, you can get there too!

Here are the 3 phases that everyone goes through on their mission to becoming a morning person... and remember, we are all in this together!

Phase 1: "I do not want to do this"

5 am...You are snuggled up and comfortable sleeping in your warm bed, having sweet dreams. Suddenly your alarm goes off in your ear. You hit the snooze button, listen carefully to your body for any signs of serious muscle pain that could keep you from training. Then, you try to come up with at least 20 other excuses why it might be better to train tonight, tomorrow or some other day this year. But just like yesterday and the day before, we wait for that thought to pass and pull ourselves together. This is the hardest phase but gets easier the more we do it..In the end, it's your choice: YOU CAN MAKE EXCUSES OR YOU CAN MAKE PROGRESS.

Phase 2: "Let's do this"

5:40 am...You have managed to wake up, get dressed, and drive to your nearest FITSQUAD Bootcamp location. You still not really feeling this early, dark morning session, but since you’ve come this far, you continue. Once you meet your coach and your fellow trainees, the mindset starts to change. 3,2,1 and the warm-up begins...Now there is no way back, it has started and you are going to do this... All the way to the end!

Phase 3: "Holly Sh** I've done it!"

6:45 am... Your coach tells you the session has finished. You are lying on the ground, exhausted but proud, very proud! Just an hour ago you didn't want to move out of your bed, but now you feel full of energy and proud of what you have done. Morning workout? check. Ready for the day? Hell yeah! You roll up your training mat, smile, and once again remember why you do this over and over again, even if getting up early is the hardest part of your day.

Congratulations, bootcamper. One more session you have attended, one more step closer to your goals. We’re proud of you.
